International
Airports
Costa Rica is served by two international airports.
International flights arrive at San Jose's Juan Santamaria International
Airport, and Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia northwest
of San Jose near the beaches in Guanacaste province. There are
good connections to all parts of the country from both these
international airports. International flights arrive daily from
the United States, Canada, and several European and South American
countries. There is a departure tax of around US $26 on international

Juan Santamaría International Airport
Located in the city of Alajuela ten miles from downtown San Jose
the capital of Costa Rica. Major international carriers include
Continental, American, Delta, United, Iberia, KLM, British Airways,
Grupo Taca, Copa, Cubana, Avianca, America West and Mexicana.

Daniel Oduber International Airport
Located in the city of Liberia northwest of San Jose 217 km (135
mi).Officially named the Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport,
after the popular former president of Costa Rica and supporter of
development in Guanacaste Province.
|
|
Located at sea level, on the great extension of flatland called
the Llano Grande, 17 km west of Liberia, it is better situated,
than Juan Santamaria, to receive flights and grow over time. The
airport offers full services for fuel, luggage handling, and technical
service for weight and balance certification, while its fire department
is specially equipped with paramedic services. Inside the terminal
are immigration, customs, airport security and antidrug controls,
as well as, a bank, snack bar, restrooms and medical assistance.

Rica Domestic Airlines and Charters
Although Costa Rica is a small country and travel
to either coast is only a short distance traveling by car is often
very time consuming. Traffic and road work often make what should
be short trip longer. If you are visiting, on vacation, traveling
or have only a short time here, we recommend traveling by air
with one of the local airlines. There are daily flights
to most of the popular desitnations. For the most part none are
over 50 minutes which will allow you more time at your destination.
Local Airlines
Sansa Airlines: was created
in 1980 and is the most important domestic airline in Costa Rica.
They fly daily to 15 exciting local destinations using their factory
new Cessna Grand Caravan's.The fleet is air-conditioned with leather
seats for your increased comfort. Airfares and air travel schedules

also offers charters.

Entry Requirements
Passport & Visa
Citizens holding valid passports from the following country's
are permitted to stay in Costa Rica for 90 days without a visa:
Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Holland
and dependencies, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg,
Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Romania, South
Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States of
America, Uruguay.
Citizens holding valid passports from the following country's
are allowed to stay in Costa Rica for 30 days without a visa, though
once in the country, they can solicit a "Prórroga de
Turismo" from the Immigration office (Migración), which
allows them to stay a total of 90 days:
Albania, Antigua & Barbuda, Australia, Bahamas, Bahrain, Barbados,
Belize, Bolivia, Bulgaria, Chile, Colombia, Czech Republic, Dominica,
El Salvador, France and dependencies, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras,
Iceland, Jamaica, Kenya, Kuwait, Mexico, Monaco, New Zealand, Oman,
Philippines, Qatar, San Cristobal, San Marino, St. Lucia, St Vincent,
Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, Suriname, Taiwan, Trinidad &
Tobago, United Arab Emirates, Vatican, Venezuela .
Citizens of all country's not listed above must obtain a visa
from a Costa Rican embassy or consulate before traveling there.
Adults and children: (children 0 - 16 years old) require the following
documents to enter Costa Rica:
A passport valid for at least 6 months
A pre-paid airline ticket to exit Costa Rica or proof of financial
resources $400 - $1,000.00 in cash, traveler checks, and or credit cards
to pay for the market value of a one-way airline ticket either to return
to your home country or to go to another country.
